Uploading Files to Your Hosting Account
There are two main ways to upload your website files to Fantastic NZ Hosting: using cPanel's built-in File Manager or an FTP client.
Method 1: Using cPanel File Manager
File Manager is built right into cPanel — no extra software needed.
- Log into cPanel via your client area.
- Click on File Manager under the Files section.
- Navigate to public_html — this is your website's root directory.
- Click the Upload button in the toolbar.
- Drag and drop files or click Select File to browse your computer.
- Wait for the upload to complete, then click Go Back.
Tip: You can upload ZIP files and then use the Extract button in File Manager to unzip them on the server. This is much faster for uploading many files at once.
Method 2: Using an FTP Client
FTP is better for large uploads or ongoing file management. We recommend FileZilla (free, available for Windows, Mac, and Linux).
- Download and install FileZilla.
- Open FileZilla and enter your FTP details:
- Host: your domain name (e.g., yourdomain.co.nz) or your server IP
- Username: your cPanel username
- Password: your cPanel password
- Port: 21 (or 990 for FTPS)
- Click Quickconnect.
- On the right side (remote), navigate to public_html.
- On the left side (local), navigate to your website files on your computer.
- Drag files from the left to the right to upload.
FTP Accounts
You can create additional FTP accounts in cPanel under Files > FTP Accounts. This is useful if you want to give a web developer access to specific folders without sharing your main cPanel login.
