Transferring Your Domain to Fantastic NZ Hosting
Already have a domain registered elsewhere? You can transfer it to Fantastic NZ Hosting for easy management of all your services in one place.
Before You Start
Check these requirements before initiating a transfer:
- Your domain must be at least 60 days old (ICANN requirement for .com/.net etc.).
- Your domain must not be within 60 days of a previous transfer.
- Your domain must be unlocked at your current registrar.
- You must have the EPP/authorisation code (also called a transfer key or auth code) from your current registrar.
- Your WHOIS contact email must be accessible — you'll receive a confirmation email there.
Special Note for .co.nz / .nz Domains
New Zealand domains (.co.nz, .nz, .net.nz, .org.nz) use a different transfer process managed by the .nz registry (InternetNZ). The process is called a UDAI transfer:
- Get your UDAI code from your current .nz registrar.
- Log into your FNZH client area.
- Go to Domains > Transfer a Domain.
- Enter your .co.nz domain name and click Transfer.
- Enter the UDAI code when prompted.
- Complete the checkout.
- .nz transfers are usually completed within a few hours.
Transferring International Domains (.com, .net, etc.)
- At your current registrar, unlock the domain and obtain the EPP code.
- Log into your FNZH client area.
- Go to Domains > Transfer a Domain.
- Enter your domain name and click Transfer.
- Enter the EPP/authorisation code.
- Complete the checkout and payment.
- You'll receive a confirmation email — click the approval link.
- The transfer typically completes within 5-7 days.
Will My Website Go Down During Transfer?
No! A domain transfer only changes who manages the domain registration. Your DNS records, website, and email will continue to work throughout the transfer as long as you don't change the nameservers during the process.
