Updating Nameservers for Your Domain
Nameservers tell the internet where your website and email are hosted. If you've registered a domain elsewhere and want to use it with Fantastic NZ Hosting, you'll need to update the nameservers.
Fantastic NZ Hosting Nameservers
Point your domain to these nameservers to use our hosting:
- ns1.fantasticnzhosting.co.nz
- ns2.fantasticnzhosting.co.nz
If Your Domain is Registered with FNZH
- Log into your client area.
- Go to Domains > My Domains.
- Click on the domain you want to update.
- Click on the Nameservers tab.
- Select "Use custom nameservers" and enter the new nameservers.
- Click Change Nameservers.
If Your Domain is Registered Elsewhere
You'll need to update the nameservers through your current domain registrar. Common NZ registrars:
- Metaname: Log in > Select domain > DNS Settings > Nameservers
- Crazy Domains: Log in > Domains > DNS Settings
- 1st Domains: Log in > Domain Management > Nameservers
- Freeparking: Log in > My Domains > DNS > Nameservers
The process is similar with most registrars — look for "DNS Settings" or "Nameservers" in your domain management panel.
How Long Do Changes Take?
Nameserver changes can take up to 24-48 hours to fully propagate worldwide, though most NZ ISPs update within a few hours. During propagation, some visitors may see your old site while others see the new one — this is completely normal.
Checking Propagation
You can check if your nameserver changes have propagated by using online tools like whatsmydns.net or by opening a command prompt and running: nslookup yourdomain.co.nz
